Yves' Apple Cinnamon Crunch Tour is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, with a delightful crunch! From the moment I arrived at the venue for VIP check-in and to meet fellow Engdu (Yves' semi-official fandom name), I could tell this show was going to be something special. While waiting to enter the venue, I had the chance to meet so many Engdu who traveled from all over for the show. Many of them had made cute freebies for the event, and one even created a video project. This kind of energy before a concert can really make the experience more meaningful.

From the moment the concert started with the electric track "Loop," the energy of the performance reminded me of why I fell in love with Yves from the very first track. Even with all the music Yves has released, "Loop" still feels like a breath of fresh air, and Yves brought that same energy to her performance. She then got intimate with heartfelt tracks like "Tik Tok" and "Gone Girl," songs that carry so much emotion and reflect how Yves feels about being here, performing for us. During these performances, Yves walked around and interacted with fans, making the connection feel even more personal. She mentioned how much she loved hearing the crowd sing along with her and how it energized her.

Yves then thanked everyone for coming and shared how excited she was to perform for us, explaining that she picked cover songs that captured the strong emotions she felt from being on tour. The first covers were "Selfish" by Madison Beer and "My Happy Ending" by Avril Lavigne. Then she performed "Diorama," blending drums with a flute-like synth that evoked the nostalgia of classic R&B. The last cover of the night was "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton. Each song was filled to the brim with emotion, and Yves really showcased the power and impact of her voice.

On Twitter/X, the day before the concert, they asked fans for questions to ask Yves! They brought out a Q&A board with a variety of questions, creating a lovely moment of connection with the crowd. Questions ranged from "Sweet or salty?" to "What are you going to write on your blog?" It was a fun and engaging interaction that helped bring the audience together.

Yves then performed "Goldfish," warming our hearts with her beautifully deep voice. The emotional depth she brought to the song was a perfect transition to the next part of the show. Yves introduced Blah, the producer of "Goldfish," who performed some of his own songs, with my favorites being "Time Slip Movie" and "Still." It was clear that he was stepping out of his comfort zone, but he gave a sweet and charming performance, especially with his cover of "As It Was" by Harry Styles, which was more upbeat compared to his usual songs.

Next, Yves returned to the stage to perform "Hashtag." Her voice, delicate yet powerful, conveyed a sense of longing and frustration as she sang. She performed a strong chair choreography that perfectly matched the energy of the song. Then came the energetic performance of "Viola," where the song’s atmospheric production and haunting minimalistic instrumentation were perfectly complemented by Yves' voice, which served as the heart of the track. Yves' energy was unmatched.

She then performed "BIRD" and "See You in Hell," both songs from the deluxe version of her album, which dropped right before her North American tour. "BIRD" is about breaking free from constraints and having the resilience to keep going. "See You in Hell" explores the tumultuous nature of her relationship with her partner, with Yves adamantly stating that they’ll both “see each other in hell” due to the mutual pain they caused each other. Both performances were filled with intense emotion and power, highlighting Yves' incredible vocal range and presence.

To close the night, Yves answered some fan questions directly, engaging with the crowd before launching into "Afterglow." Her energy stayed strong throughout the entire show. Yves then announced that she was sad the night was ending and that this would be the last song. Closing out the show with "DIM" was perfect, especially since the outro of "DIM" is the emotional crux of the song and arguably its most powerful moment. Yves then returned for an encore performance of "Viola," interacting with the crowd and even getting three cowboy hats (Texas, of course!). She waved goodbye, ending the night with a bow from her and her backup dancers, followed by a group photo with Engdu.

I had the special chance to attend the VIP experience, where I got to take a Polaroid with Yves. It was such a sweet moment—I gifted her some apple stickers, and she told me she loved the felt apple I had put on my shirt, which I had made just for the show. Getting to interact with Engdu in line was an amazing experience I’ll never forget!

Overall, Yves is an incredible performer. Although the concert wasn’t very long, it was packed with amazing performances and unforgettable moments. I can’t wait to see her again, not just performing live, but also to see what music she decides to share with us next.
